Translation:
Ninety-eight famous ponds in Shoninoko, designated as a World Heritage site. One of the popular items I tried to satisfy my hunger here was the grilled grass mochi from the renowned shop, "Daikichiya."
Not only Daikichiya, but also the various stalls in Shoninoko were bustling with many people. Even here at Daikichiya, there was never a shortage of people lining up for the grilled grass mochi.
The mochi I had was perfectly grilled, incredibly fragrant! I could clearly taste the aroma of the kneaded yomogi (Japanese mugwort).
The mochi itself was soft and chewy, with a perfect match of generous red bean paste. It had a satisfying texture and eating just one left me quite content.
◆◇◆ Postscript ◆◇◆
Although this postscript has nothing to do with the grass mochi, I noticed that many foreign tourists visit Shoninoko, not just Japanese people. It might be even more welcoming if there were Halal indications or other considerations.
Since they come all the way to Japan because they love it, I wanted them to enjoy Japan even more.
